Santiago de Chile to Host Upcoming LACNIC 22/ LACNOG 2014 Event

The Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean (LACNIC) is organizing the upcoming LACNIC 22/ LACNOG 2014 regional event together with the Internet Society and NIC Chile. The meeting is set to take place in the city of Santiago and will bring together more than 400 experts and professionals representing Latin American and Caribbean organizations, companies, governments and universities.

LACNIC22 is one of the most important events for the Internet community. It is a space for sharing experiences and analyzing the key aspects affecting the future of the regional and global Internet. The meeting coincides with the exhaustion of the Latin American and Caribbean IPv4 address pool and comes at a time when global discussions are taking place regarding the evolution of the current Internet Governance model.

Along with their commitment to the development of the Internet in Latin America and the Caribbean, this is the reason why LACNIC and NIC Chile are promoting these efforts to help the Internet evolve as a platform for innovation, economic development and social progress.

This event, the first of its kind to be held in Chile, will be held back-to-back with LACNOG 2014, the annual meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Network Operators Group, a forum for discussing, learning and collaborating on topics directly related to network operation.

"We are proud to cooperate and participate as the local organizer of such an important regional meeting," said Patricio Poblete, Director of NIC Chile.
