LACNIC Launches R&D Ambassadors Program

27 February 2024

LACNIC opens the call for applications for the first edition of the R&D Ambassadors Program. This initiative seeks to formalize collaboration between technological leaders in the community and LACNIC for the purpose of achieving strategic objectives in the development of Internet infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This program's objectives include:

  • Deployment of technological capabilities, such as +RAICES, deployathons, measurement platforms, and BGP collectors.
  • Deployment of technologies considered critical by LACNIC, such as IPv6, RPKI validation, ROA creation by operators, and DNS/DNSSEC adoption.
  • Strengthening of local human capacities: Organization of workshops, tutorials, meetings, and other national activities where LACNIC's strategic messaging can be disseminated.
  • Promotion of research activities: Dissemination of our research initiatives to encourage and improve local Internet infrastructure in the region.

The R&D Ambassadors program has a duration of one year, from June 2024 to June 2025. Anyone interested in participating must present a work plan to be executed in one year, detailing the activities they will undertake.

This work plan will be part of the process for the selection of up to 3 candidates. Selected applicants will receive a series of benefits from LACNIC, including the development of a personal brand, the possibility of presenting their results at the LACNIC 43 event, and up to US$ 2,000 to deploy capabilities for improving regional critical infrastructure.

Applications will be accepted until 15 April. For more information, refer to the full call for applications.
